Our Mission
Our mission is to continue the work of Jesus Christ, in communion with one another, through the gifts of God's abundance, for the sake of the world, and the glory of God. We are also simply gathering as friends and building up a strong community where we can thrive and learn from one another, with faith as our common bond.
Our Church
We meet at a small chapel on the north side of First Presbyterian Church in Bend, Oregon. We are a small but growing family. We usually have coffee and treats of some sort, a kind soul (usually Pastor Sam's wife Andrea) who takes the kids down the hall to the toy room, and we sing hymns for worship. There is a piano in the chapel so if someone knows how to play it, come and share your gift with us. Don't expect a traditional feel here. We are very casual but still intent on strengthening our faith and growing closer to the Lord.
Our Pastor
Sam Adams [enter beer or founding father joke here] is an ordained minister with the Mennonite Church. The man has a PhD in systematic theology from Saint Andrews University in Scotland and has amassed various other accolades of which he doesn't talk about much. He will be the only rock climber/carpenter/preacher you know. He claims to be more of a teacher than a preacher, but we've seen him waive an exuberant hand or two. His wife Andrea and three kids, Owen, Everett, and Eleni make up the Adams Family [again, too many jokes]. Our church is extremely blessed to have them.
Mennonite Tradition
The Mennonites are a denomination of Christian Anabaptists named after Menno Simons (1496–1561), who, through his writings, articulated and formalized the teachings of the earlier Swiss founders. Over the years, Mennonites have become known as one of the historic peace churches because of their commitment to non-violence.
